About

IMG_3896   This is Dianne.

At the risk of sounding corny I’d like to say that this “mission” has been somewhat divine. You see, it was not a conscious deliberate process of opening Dianne’s House. It actually started as a simple rental property and has become something much more.

Dianne B. was a loving, caring, honest firecracker. She was selfless and available, a sister to some a “mom” to others, a sponsor and a friend. When it came to carrying a message Dianne was unmatched. Helping others came easy to her. Dianne had become ill and the diagnosis was one that nobody was ready for.

So (corny coming) it came to me in a dream. I woke up one morning and said to my wife “we are gonna open a recovery house for women and call it Dianne’s House.” At this point I hadn’t really thought through any of the details like how do we get people and how to write guidelines and how to get funds and so on and so on. I just knew that it was the right thing to do and it would work out. Best of all we were able to tell Dianne what the plan was and show her the house. We were able to let her know that the impact she had made in so many lives will be carried on in her honor. It was a tear filled day.

From the beginning I’ve kept in the front of my mind “we need to help.” The formula is not new and it’s not unique. We use our experiences and the experiences of our friends to help promote a community atmosphere of accountability, responsibility, respect and recovery. We have no paid staff, no counselors, no therapists. What we have is the therapeutic value of like minds helping each other. We have hope. We have a plan. We have the spirit and the fortitude of our friend Dianne. We have each other.
